Coming Up Short #46 – Awni Issa, Eric Rosenblum, and Jon Levine

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

It’s our Christmas Week special episode on the Coming Up Short podcast, which is even more profound when you realize it’s coming from two Jews. This week on the show Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine welcome Awni Issa to the Chula Vista studios where we start right off the bat with some hard-hitting questions.

The three not only discuss Awni’s start in the comedy scene, but also why he thinks that everyone thinks he’s soft and what’s the minimum thread count your sheets should have. Plus the three touch on the new Star Wars movie (no spoilers) as both Awni and Jon have seen it.
Check out episode #46 with Awni Issa and have a Merry Christmas!

Coming Up Short #45 – Mike Cintron, Eric Rosenblum, & Jon Levine

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

One of the elder statesmen in the South Florida comedy scene joins Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine on this week’s Coming Up Short podcast. Mike Cintron is live in the Chula Vista studios and boy does he have some fun stories to tell.

Not only do we dig deep in to Mike’s comedy backstory, but we also come to the painful realization that he had no idea they sold weed in New Jersey. On top of that, the three discuss the Funky Buddha weekend shows and the Tuesday night open mic at Dada’s; two of the most known and well-respected rooms in South Florida that Mike runs.
Finally, we get to that age-old question: are you truly ever ready for something or is it the situation you’re in that makes you ready. You’ll have to listen to find out the answer.

Coming Up Short #44 – Kim Huapaya, Eric Rosenblum, and Jon Levine

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

We’re just killing it with the ladies here on the Coming Up Short podcast recently, and by killing it we mean having them on our show. This week Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine are excited to have the one and only Kim Huapaya in the Chula Vista Studios.

Kim, who brought her own security detail to the show, talks about the initial reason she decided to do standup and it’s one of the best reasons we’ve ever heard. The three also talk about why most comedians will never ever be happy (and why that might be a good thing), some local comedians that you definitely need to see if you never have, and why it’s important to Kim to try and build a diverse scene where we can all be exposed to different types of comedy.
It’s a good one, so check it out!

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

The Coming Up Short podcast starts off with a bang this week as our guest, Manny Garavito, comes out of the gate swinging! No sooner can Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine welcome Manny to the show as he launches into a tirade about how much he hates Jon. From his looks, to his comedy, to the state of his podcast studio, Manny pulls no punches!

After the ensuing fistfight, the three settle in to talk about the Flamingo Theater, Manny’s feelings of exclusion from the local comedy scene, and how important it is to march to the beat of your own drummer.

Coming Up Short #42 – Jacky Beren, Eric Rosenblum, and Jon Levine

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine have a very special guest on today’s Coming Up Short podcast, the one-and-only Jacky Beren! Jacky B comes back to the Chula Vista studios for the second time, but her first time as a guest (she was a fill-in co-host on the episode with Tim Hanlon).

The three discuss lots of topics this week, including Jacky’s planned move to New York, her plan B, C, and D for life, how important Leon Arp is to the local comedy scene, what to do when someone’s doing coke in the bathroom stall next to you, and what a treat a Crustables can actually be. She also doesn’t mention Matt Bellak a single time.
