Coming Up Short #76 – Franco Harris, Eric Rosenblum, and Jon Levine

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

We’re marking a monumental occasion here on the Coming Up Short podcast as Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine welcome in longtime listener and supporter of the podcast Franco Harris to the Chula Vista Studios. Franco’s desire to be on the show has been a long known, but due to a miscommunication, it hadn’t happened until now.

The three, well four actually (Sarah, Franco’s (much) better half joined us in studio), talk about lots of topics from how good the scene truly is down here in South Florida, why it’s important to ‘fake it till you make it’, how it’s possible that Dylan Starr is dating my ex-girlfriend, and how Jacky B’s… ahem… pleasant personality is not a new phenomena.

Lots gets touched on and it’s a great show. Listen and subscribe!

Coming Up Short #75 – Phillip Isme, Eric Rosenblum, and Jon Levine

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

The Coming Up Short podcast has hit the three-quarters-of-a-century mark this week with its 75th episode! As a special treat to mark this occasion, Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine brought in a guest from over two hours away to appear on the show. We’d like to think it was this far distance that caused Phillip Isme to be late, but I think we all know the truth.

Not only did Phillip talk dynamically about his start and career in comedy, but also about what it’s like to be a comedian in a place with few opportunities. He really opens up to Jon and Eric about his goals and fears of what might be in store for him in the future. We’re also introduced to our guest’s guest, as the lovely Ashely joined us for the show.

Coming Up Short #74 – Regina Castaneda, Eric Rosenblum, and Jon Levine

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

If someone would’ve told me that the next guest on the Coming Up Short podcast was going to be a former toothless and gender-ambiguous comedian who’s life peaked in the fifth grade, I would have said they were lying. But, that’s exactly what Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine got for this week’s episode of Coming Up Short.

Jon and Eric welcome Regina Castaneda into the Chula Vista Studios and neither of them had any idea what they were in store for. The self-proclaimed croqueta connoisseur not only explains the difference between the different types of croqueta fillings, but also about her formative years playing the roles of men on stage, including the fake beards.

You wouldn’t believe it unless you heard it. Listen and subscribe.

Coming Up Short #73 – Jesse Thompson, Eric Rosenblum, and Jon Levine

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

The Coming Up Short podcast is switching from short and fat (in my case) to tall and skinny for this, our Fourth of July episode. Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine welcome this week’s guest Jesse Thompson to the Chula Vista Studios and, as it turns out, Jesse lives right around the block (literally).

Jesse, Eric, and Jon get right to it and start with a discussion about the recent show at the Inkwell Pub that Jon and Jesse were a part of. From that, the two jump into Jesse’s dry-spell streaks, which he talks about on stage, and how legitimate they actually are.

Finally, the three wrap up the episode with talk of what’s coming up next for both Jesse and the Coming Up Short crew.

Coming Up Short #72 – Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

Like two jilted lovers, Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine rant and rave on this week’s edition of the Coming Up Short podcast. The scheduled guest cancelled on the show just two hours before we were set to record and that was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Cancellations have happened to Coming Up Short before but, thankfully, not too often. However, it was today’s cancellation which seemed like a good opportunity for Jon and Eric to discuss not only how important it is to keep your commitments from a professional standpoint, but how not doing so can negatively impact your comedy career in a serious way.

The two discuss the circumstances under which they each received their first booked gigs and, spoiler alert, it wasn’t by not working hard.

Listen to this great episode and subscribe so that you don’t miss any in the future.
